"Gaunt Rainbow" by Matthew Sawyer - Sneak Peek

“Gaunt Rainbow” is a separate book related to Matthew Sawyer’s “Pazuzu” Book Series.  The book is currently in

development.

The little girl cured of blindness in the third book of the series, “Pazuzu – Abeyance”, returns to life and

grows up in the encampment.  Twenty years have passed since the destruction of Capital.  The young woman’s nick name is “Rainbow” because of her black wardrobe.

Snippet:

“Pamela squinted at the thin, dark-skinned man.  She hoped he recognized the spiteful stare.  The

morning sun shone brightly, but Pamela spoke to the man in the shade of ramshackle shacks.  They saw each other

in perfect detail.  Wrinkles around his mouth deepened.  His eyes began to slowly sink into his prominent

skull.  Pamela recognized the signs.  She was hungry.  Pangs never pricked her stomach when she was around

other people.  Her body fed parasitically from the man’s life force.   He’ll feel famished and exhausted very

soon.  Pamela decided to purchase the bike and find some food.”

Saving Grace

Note: This movie is rated MA 15+

Saving Grace is a bit raaaandom… it’s funny, but I’m not sure I loved it. It’s about this old lady, called Grace, whose husband dies when he jumps out of an aeroplane without a parachute. You see? Bit random. Quite odd. Anyway, turns out poor Grace’s husband has left behind a TON of debt, and no money to pay it off, so Grace is in a situation. She turns to drug dealing, and everything turns into a mess.

It baffled me a bit. I mean, it’s really hard to understand why you would turn to drugs. I mean yes, Grace was afraid she would lose everything, and I know some people do sell drugs when they’re in financial troubles, because there’s just no other option, but why? You know? Well, I guess I can’t explain what I think, but, you know, it’s just… you know.

And the ending of this is a bit silly. It is a comedy, and a slow one, but the ending’s just silly.

Well, I can’t really explain what I didn’t like about this movie, but I found it unsettling.

Fave character: Nicky, Grace’s drug-partner’s girlfriend. She has a level head. She’s clever.

Fave scene: When the drug-partner, Matthew, finds out Nicky is pregnant. They jump into the sea and swim out to eachother. Nice.

Fave baddie: The hippie! Ha ha! Hysterical!

Fave machine: The machine that looked after the first ‘plant’.

Fave explosion: The hydroponic lights.

Well, looking back on my faves, I guess I kind of have to give this 3/5. I was going to give it 2.5/5, but seeing as I can’t explain what was wrong with it, I leave it there.

Twitter Trending: Maia Campbell for all the Wrong Reasons

Maia Campbell is the #1 trending topic of twitter and the subject of back and forth fodder about what’s really wrong with her.

Is Maia on drugs or suffering from a schizophrenic episode?Either way she needs an Intervention.

It’s hard to tell and we will not know until she gets the help she needs. Whether it’s an intervention or a double dose of schizophrenic meds like Stelazine or Loxapine; bottom line is that this women is in need of some of the right stuff.

#Maia Campbell

Back in Nov. 2007, it was widely reported that Maia was hospitalized:

Day one - eff you dagu (sp?!)

Firstly, this may be short and sweet and may make absolutely no sense at all as I am sitting in an internet cafe- Paperchase, in Halifax, Nova Scotia paying 13 cents a minute. Shits not free!

Day one was a success! I set out to find some rats because they are undoubtedly my number one fear. We’re talking physical reaction, want to vomit even just thinking about those futile rodents with nasty skin tails!! So Pets Unlimited in Truro?! Who knows, this road trip hasn’t been easy and I’ve lost track of the cities… anyways the petshop didnt’ have rats (what a shame!!!!) Andrew, the assistant manager, who is now a huge part of my life said no rats, but have one feeder mouse, “wanna hold that?” I will mention that I consciously went and ate dinner before facing this fear because I knew there was a chance I might throw up and no one wants to throw up on an empty stomach!! Stomach bile isn’t cool and that hurts. SO! Turns out this single feeder mouse wasn’t very friendly so he tells me about this “dagu”. Yes, I also said, “what the hell’s a dagu?” (Apparently I’m not very friendly when I’m about to face me some fears!!!!) He tells me this things hail from Africa?! Who knows and when I’m not paying for this internet business, mark my words, I will research it!

My side effects from facing this fear of vile rodents: flushed face, increased heart rate and the shakes. So, is this healthy?! Input welcome! At this rate, I believe I could stop working out for the next 99 days if this is how hard I will be making my heart work or if I can find a way to bottle this high I got, I’d be rich… just saying.

I guess I should say, yes, I held that thing. I’m not about to go out and buy one, that’s for damn sure but I held the filthy thing. For a split second, and for no more I actually thought he was sort of cute. Sort of. Anywayyyyyyyys, check mark for holding a dagu. Rats are still on the list. Good thing the shop didn’t have any because I probably would’ve pussed out and had to come here and write, “Day one – complete and utter failure.”

School's In...I'm on VACATION!

For the first time in the M & Ms’ short, little lives, SassyMama was able to stay home with them during the summer.  I looked forward to this time with my beloved babes, hoping to relish every moment of every day spent with my darling daughters.  Oh!  The things we would do together!  The books we would read!  The adventures we would have!  The “special time” we would cherish for the rest of our lives.

Yeah, right.  That little pipe dream led straight down the crapper.  That bliss I had envisioned lasted all of two frippin’ days!  By day 3 of summer vaca, I was ready to rip my hair out by the roots and choke the little ‘tards!  “Endless Summer” has a brand new meaning for me, my friends:  Endless Summer of Screaming, Whining and Fighting is more like it!   WHAT was I thinking?!  They fought over everything imaginable:  clothes, Nintendo DS games, who got to ring the neighbor’s doorbell 1st, who got to press the buttons on the freakin’ washing machine…you name it, they fought for it.  My personal favorite was the wailing war over whose summer sandals Pappy was going to like best!   JC on high!!!!!  (and speaking of “high,” I now know why people take drugs).

I have had a headache the size of the tri-state area for 3 dagum months!   I went through 3 bottles of Extra-Strength Tylenol during my Endless Summer of Misery!  However, I am now in a 12-Step program to wean myself off.   The day before school started back up, I found my foggy self driving aimlessly through seedy downtown streets…I’m pretty sure, subconsciously,  I was cruising for a meth lab.  (Whew!  That Tylenol intervention was none too soon!)

Registration. And more Suboxone Withdrawal.

Look at me go! I’m now registered to start classes this Fall to become a chemical dependency counselor. I think it will take about a year of school, then a year of work to become fully licensed. I still plan to go on to finish my BA and hopefully grad school – but this is a quick(er) way to get a job skill that might actually net me a semi-decent paycheck and health insurance while I grind my way through the next ten years of college.

Thirty days have elapsed since my last dose of Suboxone. As I predicted, the past week, also known as the PMS week, has been the hardest. My hormone cycle seems intimately and intricately bound up with my fibromyalgia and as my estrogen drops my pain increases. And because I like to fuck myself even more royally, this is the time when I give up and sit around watching tv and reading instead of pushing on thru with the yoga and the walking and all those other things that I “know” would make me feel better. Theoretically.

Give into it I did this month. I fought so hard through the first two weeks of withdrawal that I was just spent by the third week and had fuck-all for the fourth. But hey, that’s why I quit a month early…to give myself time to get through this, right? And getting through I am. I hope.

Lack of sleep didn’t help the situation much either. Doc gave me ambien, which does put me to sleep but I think it messes with my daytime motivation. Seemed like I was actually getting more done before I started with the sleep-aid. Can’t win for now, but it will pass. Still, even with all this PMS bitching, this has been WAY easier than I was thinking it would be. I thought I would be in bed crying and screaming my hate of life but it’s been nothing that dramatic.

I predict that if I force myself to take a walk eery morning for the next 30 days, I will be feeling 100% better at the end of September. So that is what I’m going to do. Take a fucking walk.
