Yowee for Yaoi Press?

Citing the Las Vegas Sun, Bleeding Cool reported hours ago that Yaoi Press proprietor Yamila Abraham was apprehended on drug charges entirely unrelated to her publication:

According to the Las Vegas Sun, Abraham was today arrested for selling and distributing excess doses of dextromethorphan hydrobromide, an active ingredient in cough mixture, masquerading as herbal extract pills called Snurf through the website www.Pleasureherbs.com.

Zerochan quickly spread the news to the Twitter community.  Reaction from those who knew Abraham was almost uniform shock.  Deb Aoki of About.com responded:

I’m stunned. But it’s citing it’s source as the Las Vegas Sun newspaper, so I fear the worst

The Yaoi Review was supportive:

As far as Yamila is concerned, let’s just remember she’s innocent until proven otherwise & assume business as usual at Yaoi Press.

Some, such as eov_ahoffman, affected a more jaded response:

Drugs and yaoi manga; who knew those two hobbies could be intertwined?

As if to verify this, a few hinted at lurid tales of their own. Otakusecret pointed out that DXM is the active ingredient in Robitussin and added,

shit I did that in college, except we called it “Robo tripping” (so that’s where those brain cells went…)

jpmeyer confessed,

i once tried to drink a bottle of robitussin.  i got two gulps in before puking.  soooooooo nasty

What will happen next?  Perhaps the final salvo should rightfully belong to Ms. Abraham herself:

Yamila Abraham (me) will be at Otakumex this weekend, Hollywood BF Oct. 4, Anime St. George 10th. FYI: Vegas News is sloppy & inaccurate.

The Moritheil Review wishes Yaoi Press all the best in these trying times, and is happy to hear that their convention schedule will be unchanged.
